Welcome to Primary PlayCare Out of School Care
at Glasgow Gaelic School

147 Berkeley Street

Glasgow G3 7HP

We offer afterschool care to children of school age up to 12 years. We aim to offer play and educational opportunities that are both fun and challenging. A respectful and happy relationship between children and staff is developed in a safe and structured environment.

Primary PlayCare has operated it’s Out of School Care service within Glasgow Gaelic school since May 2003. Although we are a private provider and not Local Authority ran, we have a long and happy association with the school and work closely with many external bodies to ensure the best level of service for all our customers. Our Gaelic Club club is one of six which we operate across Glasgow, East Renfrewshire & South Lanarkshire.

All our services are Registered and Inspected by The Scottish Commission for the Regulation of Care (The “Care Commission”). Copies of our Inspection Reports are available on request from our staff at the club.

The Out of School Service is based in the school dining hall of the Glasgow Gaelic Primary School and can provide Out of School care for up to 40 children. Children are collected from a central meeting point within the school and are accompanied by our staff to the dining hall.

The children enjoy a wide range of structured activities under the supervision of our staff and we have a full range of activities which varies from day to day. Children have the opportunity to take part in arts & crafts, table and floor games, dressing up, pretend play plus much, much more! We also provide an area for the children to complete their homework although parents are responsible for checking and signing any work done by their child. We are also able to use the school gym and the playground (weather permitting) for physical games.

We firmly believe that the children should be fully involved in the running of their club. Our Children’s Council, made up of elected members representing each age group, meet regularly with a member of staff to discuss any ideas they have which can be implemented at the club. Parents are kept up-to-date with Monthly Newsletters and the views of both Parents and children are sought through our satisfaction surveys and “Praises & Grumbles”

Our recruitment policy takes into account a balance between qualifications and experience and all staff are vetted through Disclosure Scotland prior to their appointment. All staff are qualified or working towards a qualification in childcare and also undertake an ongoing programme of continual development to enhance their own knowledge of issues which affect the childcare sector.

HOW TO USE OUR SERVICE

In order to secure a place within the club we advise making regular weekly or monthly bookings. It may be possible to make an emergency booking but this is subject to availability on the day and therefore cannot be guaranteed at short notice and is also subject to an additional charge.

We have a strict procedure in place for collections for After School Clubs. Any cancellations of bookings or changes to collections must be notified to Head Office between 9am and 2pm to ensure the safe and efficient collection of all our children.

Admissions are dealt with one a “first come, first served” basis although priority is given to brothers and sister of current users and those requiring full time places. An individual assessment is made of each child’s needs and places will be offered on the provision that we can meet those needs.

It is important that both you and your child feel happy and comfortable with the service we provide and we would love to show you around Primary PlayCare so that both you and your child can experience this unique environment.
